Broadfield Berryfruit (blueberry farm)

Info: “Crops are usually available in January, February, March. Open: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, seven days a week. Payment: Cash, only. The bushes have a generous coating of berries and no prickles. The staff encourage customers to pick wherever they like and can sample the berries to get the ones they really like. Training is given by the staff on the way to pick and ice cream containers are provided to pick into. Picking is not arduous, most females manage 3 kgs per hour and men do a bit less. Children are good pickers too. Family groups are encouraged, children are our customer of the future.”

Info: “Fresh berries are harvested at Berryfields from November to April. Frozen berries are available throughout the year. Harrows berryshop at Berryfields is open from November through to April, otherwise berries can be purchased at Sweethearts Restaurant.”

Info: “We are open every day from 9am to 5pm. Bagged fruit can be bought from our shop, or online with a 2-day delivery throughout NZ (min 3kg).  The cherry orchard will only be opened for Pick-Your-Own (PYO) on some special days. There is no PYO entry fee, but there is a minimum charge of 1kg of cherries per person.

Gracebrook cherries are normally available from early December through mid-January.  The varieties grown are Dawson, Bing, and Stella.”

 

West Melton Cherry Farm
