2015/2016 Season of Cricket in Christchurch

Hagley Oval is going to be the place to be this summer for an action packed summer of cricket! Hagley Oval is home to the Canterbury Kings, Canterbury Men’s and the Canterbury Magicians cricket teams and will also play host to the BLACKCAPS as they take on Sri Lanka in two ONE DAY INTERNATIONAL and a TEST match v Australia. Da Vinci Mechanics

28 November – 8 February // 9am // Canterbury Museum

Explore the mind of artist, scientist and original Renaissance Man Leonardo da Vinci in this award-winning interactive exhibition at Canterbury Museum.  On loan from the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci in Florence, Italy, Da Vinci Mechanics contains over 60 models. His iconic inventions include the bicycle, the scuba suit, spring powered car, hang glider and the aerial screw, a precursor to the modern helicopter. The exhibition features flying machines, nautical, hydraulic and architectural innovations, ground- breaking applications of civil engineering and incredible war machines, recreated from his drawings over a number of years by craftsmen in Florence. Special Exhibition Hall. Free. SPECTRUM Street Art Festival

Friday Night Food Trucks

Every Friday // 4-9pm // Cathedral Square

Friday Night Food Trucks are back in the square from Friday 9 October to Friday 25 March (except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). For a fun family event, come down to Cathedral Square between 4pm and 9pm each Friday night, grab some street food and relax in a fair-like atmosphere.
