Christmas Lightshow

1 – 30 December // 8:30pm – midnight

A Christmas Lightshow like no other. We have used over 500,000 lights and created a lightshow that is synchronized to popular rock and classical music. New Brighton Christmas Carnival

Come down and check out the all new American “Super Trooper” a ride for all ages. They also have kids rides, side shows, and the white knuckle ride the “SideWinder”. Show special $25 for 6 rides of your choice.
 

 

Experience Christmas at Canterbury Museum with a Victorian Christmas and Santa Search

7 Dec – 10 Jan // Canterbury Museum, Rolleston Avenue

From early December to 10 January 2016 Canterbury Museum will bring to life the magic of the festive season in A Victorian Christmas at Canterbury Museum. The much-loved Christchurch Heritage Street will be adorned with festive decorations and a decorated tree will set the scene in the Museum foyer. The Great Museum Santa Search is on again this year. Santas will hide all over the Museum and children are invited to enter the competition to find them. The winner will receive a fabulous prize from the Museum Store. Christmas entertainment will take place from 19 December, including Victorian music, and carols from The Plainsmen, a family craft activity as well as a daily appearance by a very special guest. A Victorian Christmas at Canterbury Museum – including The Great Museum Santa Search. Supported by: The Christmas Hut, Malthouse Costumes, The Plainsmen and Canterbury Embroiderers Guild. Mary Poppins

Lego Technics FUN!

Mondays & Wednesdays; 28th December – 27th January // Imagination Station // 4-5:30pm

Are you fascinated by how things work and think you can figure out the mechanics behind how Technic contraptions function by building them yourselves? This 90 minute session will introduce you to all the different Technic parts and how show you how to use them to make contraptions such as the Squeeze Claw Grabber, Paper Shredder, Gearing Up and Down, Catapult and the Trap Ball. Whether you have built with Technics or not before, this session will develop your understanding of how each piece aids in the function of the contraptions and further your building skills. 2015/2016 Season of Cricket in Christchurch

Hagley Oval is going to be the place to be this summer for an action packed summer of cricket! Hagley Oval is home to the Canterbury Kings, Canterbury Men’s and the Canterbury Magicians cricket teams and will also play host to the BLACKCAPS as they take on Sri Lanka in two ONE DAY INTERNATIONAL and a TEST match v Australia. Da Vinci Mechanics

28 November – 8 February // 9am // Canterbury Museum

Explore the mind of artist, scientist and original Renaissance Man Leonardo da Vinci in this award-winning interactive exhibition at Canterbury Museum.  On loan from the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci in Florence, Italy, Da Vinci Mechanics contains over 60 models. His iconic inventions include the bicycle, the scuba suit, spring powered car, hang glider and the aerial screw, a precursor to the modern helicopter. The exhibition features flying machines, nautical, hydraulic and architectural innovations, ground- breaking applications of civil engineering and incredible war machines, recreated from his drawings over a number of years by craftsmen in Florence. Special Exhibition Hall. Free.
