Obstacle & Cross County Race

13 September // 10am – 3pm // Dudley Park, Rangiora

An exciting race for 2 – 8 year olds. Families will enjoy a fun, healthy and community building event, complete with awesome activities, entertainment and food vendors. Racing will start at 10am for the 2 year old competitors, with other ages raced in waves following this. The key focuses are fun, participation, motor skill development, confidence and fostering sportsmanship skills in a positive, challenging and supportive environment. This event is run in conjunction with Tiddlers Multisport Trust. $10 pp if registered & paid before 9 Sept, otherwise $15. Woodend School Fair

13 September // 10am – 2pm // Woodend School

There is so much on offer at this years Woodend School Fair it should not be missed! This year our School Fair is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet! More stalls, more food, more attractions, more fun for the whole family. We are doing our Giant Prize Draw again called the ‘Whats in the Highheel’ where people can buy $2 tickets to get in the draw to win 1 of 20 prizes. We have a signed All Blacks jersey, surfboard, vouchers, cash, hair styling, clothing and so much more all kindly donated by families and businesses in our local community. We will have our iconic ‘Woodend Schools got Talent’ Show at lunchtime where pupils from Woodend School will compete for cash prizes. There will be entertainment all day on the stage and a novelty drag race with a difference. See Facebook page for more details.

 

The #ClimateKilometre Grand Parade

16 September // 12pm // University of Canterbury

Jump on your bikes, scooters, skateboards and rollerblades and join Generation Zero in a 1km-long celebration of zero carbon transport, in the lead up to the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris this November. This event is being held in conjunction with Pole To Paris, as part of the UC Sustainability Community‘s Eco Week and will feature two electric cars, creative pedal-powered contraptions from Pedalmania, and much more! The Parade will take place around University roads, and conclude with nibbles, speeches and a prize-giving for the best modes of zero carbon transport. So get thinking about the most colourful and creative way that YOU can do a #climatekilometre. Meet outside Canterbury University’s C-Block Lawn at 12pm, Parade starts at 12.30.
