Redcliffs School Fair

20 September // 11am-3pm // Van Asch Deaf Education Centre

Redcliffs School will be holding its hugely popular school fair on Sunday 20 September.  The fair is one of the first of the year and promises to be bigger and better than ever. The fair will again be held in Sumner, at the van Asch Deaf Education Centre site.  The park-like setting is Redcliffs School’s “home away from home” since the Christchurch earthquakes forced a temporary move from the Redcliffs site. The Redcliffs School fair always provides fun for the whole family.  The day’s attractions include carnival rides, food stalls, good old-fashioned sideshows, crafts, plants, sweets, cakes, toys, clothes, books and white elephant. This year the fair will be held in and around the Redcliffs School classrooms accessed via Truro Street. Official Website: Click here and Facebook Event: Click here

  

The Body Festival

24 September – 11 October 

 The Body Festival, Christchurch’s annual festival of dance and physical theatre, is a showcase and celebration of New Zealand’s dancing talent. A Gypsy Extravaganza

25-27 September // Starts 9am // Richmond Park Stanmore Road

Another Roadside Attraction presents: A Gypsy Extravaganza. Live entertainment all day day music, puppet show, Hoola hoop workshops. Loads of kids fun such as a free giant kaleidoscope, face painting, hair braiding, merry go round, candle dipping and more. Art, craft and cool stalls, food trucks, readers, unique tiny homes plus heaps more. Entry is is free and ALL WELCOME. Official Website: Click here

  

The Breeze Walking Festival

26 September – 10 October

This year the festival has been extended to cover the duration of the October school holidays with plenty of choice. From child-friendly jaunts to a more energetic trek for the experienced walker, some include activities which will cater for all interests and ages. 16 days of 37 free walks for all terrains, ages, and interests. The walks take in areas within Christchurch city, the Port Hills, and parts of the Waimakariri and Selwyn Districts, including coastlines, forests, ridgelines, river ways, wetlands, gardens and city streets. The Breeze Walking Festival is a chance to discover new places, learn more about old haunts, try fun activities, and above all to enjoy fresh air, spring sunshine and good company. Whether you’re a fan of the outdoors, local history, art, wildlife, socialising, or keeping fit, there’s a walk for you. You can download the programme to browse the 37 walks on offer. Ken the Kiwi Challenge

Can you complete the school holiday challenge? If you can find “Ken the Kiwi” in our wooden maze, you can enter the draw to win a prize! Great fun for the family and there are special school holiday family packages! 2 adults and up to 3 children – $49; 1 adult and up to 3 children – $35.
