New Zealand International Film Festival 2015

7-23 August // Various times and venues

Every winter the NZ International Film Festival (NZIFF) brings the best and brightest of world cinema straight from the international circuit to the giant screens of New Zealand. Peter Pan

Peter Pan will appeal to both adults and children alike with imaginations on fire in Neverland with pirates, mermaids, lost boys and Indians. Bounce Youth Snow Party

15 August // 1-4pm // Cathedral Square

New Zealand Red Cross is proud to present the Launch of The Bounce Youth Snow party will see the Cathedral Square covered with 3 truck loads of snow alongside live music from Drax Project (Wellington) and Stevie Tonks (X-Factor). Heaps of free activities including snow soccer, gladiator duel plus ride on some crazy bikes! Did we say FREE BBQ and Free Hot Chocolate too! Dr Who Titan Comics Day

15 August // 2-3pm // Central Library Peterborough, 87-91 Peterborough Street

Calling all time lords, cybermen, daleks, and time/space travelling companions! Central Library Peterborough is hosting a Doctor Who themed event on Saturday the 15th of August, free for all humans and other species to attend. Cosplay as your favourite character and be in to win prizes for best dressed! There’ll also be colouring in, puzzles, Doctor Who books and DVDs to borrow, and from 2.30 – 3.00 we’ll be holding a quiz to test you on your Doctor Who trivia. If you get them correct then you’ll win a prize, and if you’re unlucky there might be the possibility of trying some fish fingers and custard a la the Eleventh Doctor! Who could turn that down? If you aren’t able to attend Doctor Who Day, don’t despair — we’re holding a Create Your Own Sonic Screwdriver competition which finishes on the 20th of September (more details TBA). And there’s always the plethora of Doctor Who fiction, craft books, DVDs, e-books and comics available at your local library all year round.


African Drumming for Small People

All people welcome, young and old to come together to experience the joy of drumming with master drummer from Ghana, Robert Fugah. Although aimed at meeting the needs of younger people, we welcome people of all ages to join us.


Messy Play Day

Winter Second Hand Book Sale

Lose yourself in a book this winter and grab a bargain at Lincoln’s Annual Second Hand Book Sale. Make your selection by listening to some great live music and pick up some quality locally grown spray free veg/fruit, plants, flowers, take the opportunity to sample some award winning artisan produce and baking or even find that extra special gift handcrafted by one of Lincoln Farmers’ and Craft Market’s talented crafters – including wood products, hand made clothing and winter woollens, art, toys, jewellery…. . Kids In Cars Mainland Family Fun Day

Kids in cars, is finally making their way to the mainland to put on our KIC South Island Family Fun Day. The KIC crew have been out an about chatting to our special charities in Christchurch , and we are all looking forward to a fun day. As per our Auckland Event , this is a free day for the families of our supported charities , and if the general public would like to come down and have some fun , these will be a small charge for this. We are looking forward to a fun day and are hoping to make this an annual event in Christchurch… track rides – bouncy castles – face painting – coffee – hot food – balloons – and lots of fun. Storylines Family Day

The Storylines Festival Family Days are a breeding ground for this generation’s Margaret Mahy or Joy Cowley, or indeed for the next Eleanor Catton! But more than that, they are the place where our children and their families and our authors, illustrators and storytellers share the magic of our stories, right here and now. Roll up, roll up… Christchurch Storylines Family Day approaches and have we got a fantastic day lined up for you! Join us in the Upper riccarton Library on Sunday 23rd August from 10am – 3pm, for a fun-filled day of authors, illustrators, performers and plenty more book – based delights galore! You can also be in with a chance to win! You can enter on the day in our competition zone and we will also have on the spot prizes for fancy dress so come along as your favourite story characters! So, with books, art, performance, competitions and facepainting …and all for free, what is there not to love!
