Autumn Discovery Trail – Te Wao Nui a Tane

3rd – 19th April  // 8:30am – 5pm // Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Rolleston Ave

These school holidays, from Good Friday (3 April) until Sunday 19 April, pick up a free discovery trail booklet from the Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre and explore Te Wao Nui a Tane (the Great Forest of Tane). We recommend that kids under 7 have grown-up assistance for the tasks involved. The Visitor Centre is open daily from 8.30am – 5pm.

 

Imagination Station

Monday – Sunday // 10am – 6pm // Imagination Station, 113 Worcester Ave

Entrance is free, but donations are welcome. Open for extended hours during the April Holidays – From the 6th-19th we will be open from 9AM until 6PM daily. That is an extra 14 hours of LEGO goodness these holidays! Closed the 3rd, 4th, and 5th April for Easter weekend. See HERE for class schedule for this time. You can and your children can come in and play in our large LEGO play areas during our opening hours. No reservation is necessary for the play areas. There’s a standard LEGO play area suitable for children three years and older and a Duplo play area suitable for children three and younger. Parents need to actively supervise their children at all times – there is no upper age limit on LEGO play!

Alice in Wonderland – In the Attic

The Ballet Competition

Mini Monet’s – Kids Painting Session

Bring the kids to a fun, social painting party at the studio, no experience is needed in painting only a positive attitude! Going On a Bear Hunt – Great Value School Holiday Fun

Riccarton Players Playbox Theatre presents: Going on a Bear Hunt & other Stories, Poems & Songs for the upcoming April School Holidays. This latest production continues Riccarton Players proud history of quality children’s shows suitable for kids aged 4 to 94 and incorporates all that is good in children’s entertainment – simple and fun storylines, recognisable music and plenty of opportunity for the audience to get involved. Pet Expo

11th & 12th April  // 10am – 5pm // Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre

Come and experience New Zealand’s largest and most popular Pet Expo on April 11 & 12 at the Pioneer Leisure Centre. The 2015 Pet Expo is New Zealand’s premier event for all things pet related. This includes nutrition, health, training, responsible ownership, play, discipline and everything in-between. Tickets are valid for one entry on either Saturday or Sunday. There will be a separate queue for ticket pre-sales for preferential entry. Family Pass is for Two Adults and up to 3 Kids. Children Under 8 Can pay their age on the day – to speed this process up please bring exact change. If you require EFTPOS transactions for a child entry you will need to go to the Gate Sales queue. Official Website: Click here

Cycle to Your Library Day

Grab your kids, co-workers, friends and neighbours and cycle to your local library on April 14 2015! Cycling is a fast, healthy and cost-effective way of getting to where you need to go – including your fantastic local library! Cycle to any Christchurch City Library on April 14 and receive a free reflective backsack to carry your books! (While stocks last. All cyclists must show their safety helmet to staff to receive the backsack.) While you’re there, take time to talk to staff about the exciting range of cycling resources, books and information the library has for all types of cyclists!

 

Autumn Art

All the fallen autumn leaves will certainly come in handy these holidays! Kids can get creative with our Autumn Art programme from Tuesday 14 April to Saturday 18 April between 10.30 and 2.30pm. Activities include creating leaf art, a leaf sun catcher or a leaf bandana (by pummelling leaves onto fabric!). Venue is the old Information Centre near the Armagh car park entrance to the Gardens. Sessions are 25 minutes long and the cost is $2 to cover materials. Spectrum Street Art Festival

14th Feb – 10 May  // YMCA

Featuring: The largest Banksy collection in the southern hemisphere. Who: Cope 2, Sofles, Adnate, Owen Dippie, Flox, Buff Monster, Dcypher & Jacob Yikes. Admission is free, and there are rumored giant spray cans adorning the venue, customized by selected artists.
