Autumn Discovery Trail – Te Wao Nui a Tane

3rd – 19th April  // 8:30am – 5pm // Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Rolleston Ave

These school holidays, from Good Friday (3 April) until Sunday 19 April, pick up a free discovery trail booklet from the Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre and explore Te Wao Nui a Tane (the Great Forest of Tane). We recommend that kids under 7 have grown-up assistance for the tasks involved. The Visitor Centre is open daily from 8.30am – 5pm.


Steam Train Running this Easter

5th & 6th April  // 10am – 4:30pm // Ferrymead Heritage Park

Ferrymead Heritage Park features an Edwardian township complete with picture theatre, school house, church, bakery, jail and railway station. There are a fascinating array of museum and heritage collections. A tram runs daily or a steam train runs on public holidays, school holidays and on the 1st Sunday of each month March to November and every Sunday December to February. Imagination Station

Entrance is free, but donations are welcome. Open for extended hours during the April Holidays – From the 6th-19th we will be open from 9AM until 6PM daily. That is an extra 14 hours of LEGO goodness these holidays! Closed the 3rd, 4th, and 5th April for Easter weekend. See HERE for class schedule for this time. You can and your children can come in and play in our large LEGO play areas during our opening hours. No reservation is necessary for the play areas. There’s a standard LEGO play area suitable for children three years and older and a Duplo play area suitable for children three and younger. Parents need to actively supervise their children at all times – there is no upper age limit on LEGO play!

Isaac Theatre Royal Open Day & Restoration Tour

The Isaac Theatre Royal opened its doors to the public at the beginning of March, for its first open day since the completion of a $40million restoration. Thousands turned out to show their support. Due to overwhelming demand, we are pleased to announce a second open day and tour of the Isaac Theatre Royal. This time, thanks to Showbiz Christchurch, you will also have the opportunity to see the full Phantom of the Opera set up close. Come and see the theatre and take part in this extra special Restoration Celebration Tour. With Newstalk ZB broadcasting live from the theatre and the chance to see the theatre in full production mode, this is a unique opportunity not to be missed! A suggested donation of $5 or more to the theatre’s fundraising campaign will go toward securing the future of the theatre. Alice in Wonderland – In the Attic

The Ballet Competition

Pet Expo

11th & 12th April  // 10am – 5pm // Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre

Come and experience New Zealand’s largest and most popular Pet Expo on April 11 & 12 at the Pioneer Leisure Centre. The 2015 Pet Expo is New Zealand’s premier event for all things pet related. This includes nutrition, health, training, responsible ownership, play, discipline and everything in-between. Tickets are valid for one entry on either Saturday or Sunday. There will be a separate queue for ticket pre-sales for preferential entry. Family Pass is for Two Adults and up to 3 Kids. Children Under 8 Can pay their age on the day – to speed this process up please bring exact change. If you require EFTPOS transactions for a child entry you will need to go to the Gate Sales queue. Official Website: Click here


Celebration of Light Festival

Spectrum Street Art Festival

14th Feb – 10 May  // YMCA

Featuring: The largest Banksy collection in the southern hemisphere. Who: Cope 2, Sofles, Adnate, Owen Dippie, Flox, Buff Monster, Dcypher & Jacob Yikes. Admission is free, and there are rumored giant spray cans adorning the venue, customized by selected artists. All the major players in spray paint manufacturing are set to contribute, and we imagine this event will undoubtedly cement Christchurch’s reputation as one of the country’s great street art advocates. Official Website: Click here

    about. The Ship is through 22″ wide, 33″ extensive and 8″ tall.
