Thomson Skate Jam

If you haven’t tried skateboarding or inline skating then head down to the Thomson Skate Jam and give it a go! The Cheapskates Skate Skool runs a series of community skate jams around Canterbury this summer. These events are aimed at encouraging youth into skating with free gear hire and coaching from experienced skaters. All events include a best trick competition where participants can show off their best moves for a chance to win prizes. Funded by Burwood/Pegasus Community Board

 

Summer of Fun – Pop Up Cinema

21st March  // 6:30pm – 10pm // Trousselot Park

An outdoor movie, showing Despicable Me 2. This is a community event that anyone of any age can attend. There will be pre-movie entertainment and various other attractions – free face painting and games.
 

Final Splash Down at Jellie Park

Sound Garden’s Re-launch

Sound Garden has found its new home and we’re keen to celebrate with a big bang!Thanks to all the hard work of volunteers and the Greening the Rubble and Gap Filler crews, Sound Garden has been safely installed at its new site at 100 Peterborough St, opposite the new city Library. Come join the fun, play, learn and share some kai from the onsite food caravans. Make a whole evening of it and pop along to Cheap Eats and Cinema over at The Commons and watch a free film. Official Website: Click here

Harbour Harvest Festival

28th March  // 10am // Lyttelton

Join us in Lyttelton for a day of harvest festivities: demonstrations and tastings at the Lyttelton Farmers Market 10am – 1pm; foraging tour; locally grown dinner at Albion square with Giulio Sturla from Roots Restaurant. The Harbour Harvest Festival is the stepping-off point for a year-long project in which locals are encouraged to collectively grow all the ingredients for a “community grown” dinner at next year’s festival. Spectrum Street Art Festival

14th Feb – 10 May  // YMCA

Featuring: The largest Banksy collection in the southern hemisphere. Who: Cope 2, Sofles, Adnate, Owen Dippie, Flox, Buff Monster, Dcypher & Jacob Yikes. Admission is free, and there are rumored giant spray cans adorning the venue, customized by selected artists.
