LYFE (Linwood Youth Festival Experience) 2015

14th March  // 11am-4pm // Linwood Park, Linwood Ave (opposite Eastgate Mall)

Free! The annual Linwood Youth Festival is back! This is one of the best free events, attracting1000s of people each year. Join the young people of Linwood to experience the best in music, dance, sport and fun activities. Cat Show

15th March  // 9am // Kaiaipoi Club, Riverview Lounge

Long and shorthair cats, pedigree and household pets on display all day. Watch the judging take place along with top ten presentations throughout the day. Sponsored by Royal Canin. Gold coin donation.

 

Thomson Skate Jam

21st March  // 12pm-4pm // Thomson Park, Marine Parade

If you haven’t tried skateboarding or inline skating then head down to the Thomson Skate Jam and give it a go! The Cheapskates Skate Skool runs a series of community skate jams around Canterbury this summer. These events are aimed at encouraging youth into skating with free gear hire and coaching from experienced skaters. All events include a best trick competition where participants can show off their best moves for a chance to win prizes. Funded by Burwood/Pegasus Community Board

Summer of Fun – Pop Up Cinema

21st March  // 6:30pm – 10pm // Trousselot Park

An outdoor movie, showing Despicable Me 2. This is a community event that anyone of any age can attend. There will be pre-movie entertainment and various other attractions – free face painting and games.

Spectrum Street Art Festival

14th Feb – 10 May  // YMCA

Featuring: The largest Banksy collection in the southern hemisphere. Who: Cope 2, Sofles, Adnate, Owen Dippie, Flox, Buff Monster, Dcypher & Jacob Yikes. Admission is free, and there are rumored giant spray cans adorning the venue, customized by selected artists. All the major players in spray paint manufacturing are set to contribute, and we imagine this event will undoubtedly cement Christchurch’s reputation as one of the country’s great street art advocates. Official Website: Click here
