Jellie Park Skate Jam

The Jellie Park Skate Jam is a family friendly community skate event. Learn to Skate with the friendly instructors from the Skate Skool with free gear hire available for beginners plus a competition with prizes up for grabs! This event is proudly supported by the Fendalton/Waimairi Community Board. Movie themes from Harry Potter to the Godfather will reverberate around North Hagley Park at this year’s Sparks. Pre-show entertainment starts at 5.30pm with the Justice Brass Band, Christchurch Youth Orchestra comprising some of our best musicians between the ages of 16 and 25, and Japanese drumming group Takumi who will reveal the Japanese culture through heart-pounding beats and stunning visual performances. More performances throughout the night. Bring a picnic, family and friends. Sing along, dance, or just let the music wash over you. The spectacular closing fireworks display will be accompanied by the Superman theme.Rain date Sunday 1 February. Parking is available for $3 at Carlton Mill corner, entry off Harper Ave or catch a bus to avoid the parking hassles. Forget Me Not Family Farm Day

Wee Dram Farm Park supports Alzheimers Canterbury. Creating fond memories to support those who cannot remember. Feed the animals, meet baby animals, pony rides, bouncy castle, food trucks, picnic tables. $7 ($5 per ticket will go to supporting people living with dementia). Anthony Harper Summer Theatre presents Peter Pan

Excitement is in the air! Escape from the traffic hassles, money worries and holiday season stresses and fly away with us this summer to Neverland. The Forge at The Court in collaboration with The Court Youth Company presents a new adaption of Peter Pan for the whole family. Our story begins when Peter Pan comes to Wendy’s window and together they stumble across Neverland, where they join the Lost Boys and of course Tinkerbell to do battle with the wicked Captain Hook and his pirate crew. Action, sword fights, comedy and tragedy… this show will have it all this summer. Set up a chair or rug on the lawn at Riccarton House and settle in with the boy who would not grow up, for a chaotic, cheeky and charming version of this favourite story. Full of the joys and wonderment of childhood, sprinkled with the dark fears and bittersweet moments that inhabit our youth, Peter Pan will delight the immortal child in all of us. No performances Monday and Tuesday. Street parking is available or limited car parking at the Riccarton Bush car park. Please be aware of the Saturday markets and allow yourself time so you can truly enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this location. Summer of Fun – Springfield School and Community Family Fun Day

6th February  // 10-3pm // Springfield School, 2 Tawera Lane, Springfield

We will have a family fun day with a bouncy castle, face painting, sausage sizzle, BYO picnic, pool party, fun team games, ice-creams and drinks for everyone. It is for the entire community, celebrating the new school year and welcoming our new families to Springfield.


I Love New Brighton

6th February  // 11-3pm // Thomson Park, Marine Parade

Come along and celebrate all that New Brighton has to offer including sports clubs offering have-a-go sport tasters, New Brighton market, live music, food stalls, bouncy castles, free hellers sausages and loads of information about local community organisations and services. This is a free event, bought to you in partnership with Youth Alive Trust, New Brighton Project and Rawhiti Community Sports inc. 


The Big Pirate Picnic Beach Party

7th February  // 1pm // Corsair Bay

The Fourth New Zealand SandCastle Competition

7th February  // 10am // Marine Parade, New Brighton

The Pegasus Bay Charitable Trust is proud to bring you the fourth New Zealand Sandcastle Competition. Enjoy having fun in the sand at this family friendly event and build or view the great sand sculptures. There will be plenty of entertainment at the beach including food and drink stalls, children’s entertainment, bouncy castles and water walking. Sandcastle competition entries are free for children, family teams, adult teams and adult individuals, enter online. Held on the beach in front of the southern car park by the Library on Marine Parade New Brighton. Official Website: Click here

Sculpture on the Point

28th Dec – 22 Feb //Godley House

A fantastic Sculpture Trail from the ferry wharf to the Godley site  – 7 prominent New Zealand artists including Graham Bennett, Hannah Kidd and Aaron Te Rangiao present installations on the point for the summer. View the sculptures as you make your way to the music for a Sunday Session or choose any day of the week to view. Catch the Black Cat Ferry from Lyttelton for a 10 minute cruise across beautiful Lyttelton Harbour, or enjoy the 35 minute scenic drive from Christchurch. Official Website: Click here
