Summer of Fun – Ukelele & Recorder Fun Day

10th Jan  // 10 – noon  // Knox Church, Corner of Bealey Avenue and Victoria Street

Try an Instrument Day! Hear recorder and ukulele performances, try out each instrument and take a class in your preferred instrument. If you are one of the first 20 to register for the event and stay for the lesson, you can take away a free recorder or ukulele! First come, first served registration forms will be posted on the Knox Church website on 6 January 2015 ( with registrations being confirmed as they sign in by 10am at the event. Lincoln’s Fruit & Berry Fest

10th Jan  // 10 – 1pm  // on green beside Hillyers Cafe, Lincoln

Come and enjoy a day out in the picturesque township of Lincoln and sample an array of sweet and succulent summer fruits at Lincoln Farmers’ and Craft Market’s very popular annual Fruit and Berry Fest. A wide selection of fruits will be on offer including blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, apricots direct from local growers. Plus lots of local produce – vegetables, plants, wines, cheeses, preserves, olive oil, confectionery, artisan baking, gf/df treats, pastries sweet and savoury, cakes, wide selection of handcrafted gifts & food stalls topped off by live music from local Nicos Tescos and his Band who will get your feet tapping with some classic rock and Greek music you can even have a go at some circle dancing. Alice and the White Rabbit in Wonderland

Harlequin Players is proud to present Alice and the White Rabbit in Wonderland, adapted by Glenys Lloyd-Smith, the late Patron of Harlequin Players. Come along and join in the madcap shenanigans and antics following Alice’s journey down the rabbit hole, meeting some old and new wondrous and strange characters. Is the Mad Hatter really as mad as they say? Is the Queen of Hearts as fierce as you think? And who is Louie Lost? You will have to come along to find out the answers! Showcased in the stunning grounds of Avebury House, Eveleyn Couzins Avenue, Richmond, Christchurch. Bring a picnic, dress up as your favourite character. Mrs McGinty and the Bizarre Plant

The Owl and the Pussycat

The Great Museum Santa Search

6th Dec – 18th Jan // 9am – 5pm  // Canterbury Museum

The Great Museum Santa Search is on once again. Every year our Santas hide somewhere new and they are well hidden so the little ones need to keep their eyes open. From 6 December 2014 to 18 January 2015 the hunt is on. Each Santa is different, with many of the figurines and models from the late Laurie King’s collection. Laurie was well known locally as “King Santa” a role which spanned some 56 years, with him bringing joy to many hospital patients, playcentres and other community charities, including 16 years in the Christchurch Santa Parade. To enter this competition, count the Santa’s you find, fill in an entry form and post it in the box provided in the Museum foyer. Summertime Reading Club

Complete a series of exciting digital, reading and creative challenges and then bring your completed adventure sheet into any Christchurch City Library between 19 December and 23 January 2015. Sculpture on the Point

28th Dec – 22 Feb //Godley House

A fantastic Sculpture Trail from the ferry wharf to the Godley site  – 7 prominent New Zealand artists including Graham Bennett, Hannah Kidd and Aaron Te Rangiao present installations on the point for the summer. View the sculptures as you make your way to the music for a Sunday Session or choose any day of the week to view.
