Santa comes to The Forge at The Court Theatre

13 & 20th December // 9am – 1pm  // Bernard Street, Christchurch

Elves R U Nortyornice, Glitterdust and Howdoo Umeasureup, will be assisting Santa in his Forge Christmas Grotto. Not only will they handle the ‘Naughty or Nice’ list, but also, when Santa takes his milk and biscuit breaks at 10 am, 11 am and 12 noon, they will entertain Grotto visitors with a story and a carol or two. No queues and no charges. As an early Christmas present to mums and dads, not to mention boys and girls, Santa has banned queues at The Forge Christmas Grotto. Instead his elves will meet the children on arrival and take down their names, checking to see if they are on the naughty or nice list. Children will have plenty to do while they wait to be introduced to Santa; children can chat to the elves, write and post a Christmas letter or take pictures at the photo booth. Santa commented, “Ho ho ho, boys and girls have come to see me in my Grotto not stand in line and I know that mums and dads will appreciate my early Christmas gift of making the whole event free.” Santa’s Head of Marketing Ms S Cape Klaus says, “Generally children do not get much face-time with Santa and his elves. In this way The Forge Christmas Grotto will provide a unique Santa experience, unavailable elsewhere in Christchurch.” Rudolf Redknows, the Santa team’s transport co-ordinator, has confirmed that Santa and elves will be at The Court Theatre foyer from 9.00am to 1.00 pm on Saturday 13th and Saturday 20th December. Official Website: Click here. Facebook Event: Click here.

The Great Museum Santa Search

6th Dec – 18th Jan // 9am – 5pm  // Canterbury Museum

The Great Museum Santa Search is on once again. Every year our Santas hide somewhere new and they are well hidden so the little ones need to keep their eyes open. From 6 December 2014 to 18 January 2015 the hunt is on. Each Santa is different, with many of the figurines and models from the late Laurie King’s collection. Laurie was well known locally as “King Santa” a role which spanned some 56 years, with him bringing joy to many hospital patients, playcentres and other community charities, including 16 years in the Christchurch Santa Parade. To enter this competition, count the Santa’s you find, fill in an entry form and post it in the box provided in the Museum foyer. The first correct entry drawn after the closing date will win a great prize. Contact Info: 366 5000. Official Website: Click here.
