Scarecrow Saturday

Fun, Filled Family Event – Get creative and start making your Scarecrow now ready for Lincoln Farmers’ and Craft Market’s Annual Scarecrow Saturday Event. Open to all ages with categories including – School/Community Entry, Adult, Child, Corporate, Pre-School (Scarecrow Min 1m High)  +  Live Scarecrow Category (Fancy Dress). Entries register between 10 – 10.30 am. Guest Judge, Fantastic Prizes Up For Grabs. Live Music. Ashley Forest Half Marathon and 10k run/walk

7th September // 8:30am registration //  Ashley Forest

North Loburn School are holding their annual 10km and 21km Ashley Forest Fun Run and Walk once again this year. This years course is expected to be located in the same area as last year, but is highly dependent on forestry activity and therefore we will confirm any changes closer to the time. The half marathon and 10km run/walk will take you on a journey through the forestry roads of the Ashley Forest. The courses are a mixture of undulating hills with some challenging gradients. Expect to encounter mud, water and exposure to all the elements. The 10km run/walk has one decent and climb followed by a gradual downhill over the last 4kms. The half marathon run follows the 10km course for the first decent and climb before joining the 10km course for the final 4km. PLEASE NOTE that all distances are approximate as the courses have been designed to make interesting circuits around the forest. $20 adult, $10 under 18, $40 family. Official website:


Platform Arts Festival

11-21st September // University of Canterbury

The University of Canterbury will celebrate its fifth Platform Arts Festival from 11-21 September. All events are based on UC’s Ilam campus and will be free to the public. This year’s festival features a varied selection of performances, exhibitions, talks and films by staff and students from across UC’s College of Arts. Art Exhibition – Mt Pleasant School

12-13th September // Mt Pleasant School, 82 Major Hornbrook Road, Mt Pleasant

Starts with an opening night auction (12th September, 6-9pm) and cost $10. Come and view over 320 pieces of art work from over 45 artists well known artists including featured artist Linelle Stacy. Orienteering Schools Festival

13 & 14th September

Paws in the Park

14th September // 11am – 3pm //  The Groynes

Join SPCA Canterbury for a fun family day out with your four-legged friend at Paws in the Park on Sunday 14 September from 11am to 3pm at The Groynes. Stalls and entertainment include: dog agility display, dog behavious presentation, pampered pooch competition, ‘Five Freedoms’ dog walk, dog massage clinic, face painting, SPCA stall including OpShop sale tent and much more! Woodend School Fair

14th September // 10am – 2pm //  Woodend School, School Road

There is so much on offer at this years Woodend School Fair it should not be missed! This year’s ‘fun at the fair’ includes live entertainment, Woodend School’s Got Talent show, 82 ft zipline (flying fox), rifle range, bumper boats, face painting, Fire Brigade display, pony rides, bouncy castles including a large inflatable slide, 4 in 1 bungy, chocolate wheel, mystery bottles and our amazing ‘what’s in the handbag prize draw?’ And add to that a large number of stalls selling all sorts of things – new and used, A great place to buy some plants for the garden or some pressies for Christmas.
