The Christchurch Brick Show presented by The Press

12th & 13th July // 9am – 5pm //  Air Force Museum

This show features amazing LEGO models for all age groups in the new hangar of the Air Force Museum. Enthusiasts and collectors will display their designs, collections and contraptions. Kaiapoi Adventre Race

12th July // 10am-2pm // i-SITE, Charles Street, Kaiapoi

Trivia, mental and physical challenges, and awesome adventures. Record each adventure on a digital device.

Scoot and Skate

Roll on down to the flash new Washington Way Skate Park for this fun event as part of TV2 KidsFest. Featuring performers, prizes and demos there is plenty of space for all skill levels. Flat Man’s Superhero Training Academy

14th July // 11am-11:45am, Noon-12:45pm, 1pm-1:45pm, 2pm-2:45pm //  Cowles Stadium

Join Christchurch’s famous Flat Man and learn what it takes to be a superhero! Come along and hang out with him, test yourself on the inflatable obstacle course and grab 15 seconds of fame! Kids Market

14th July // 10am-2pm //  Addington Raceway, Wrights Road

Learn how to set up shop, handle money, negotiate with customers, create crafts and make some extra pocket money with the Kids Market as part of TV2 KidsFest. Collect your old toys, clothing and sports gear, or get creative by making your own arts, crafts or baking. Parents come along to supervise only. Bring one table per family and remember to bring warm clothing and a money belt. No cooking is to take place on site. Come along to this event and find a bargain or buy some yummy treats! Josh Grimaldi’s Toy Land

15th – 17th July // 11am & 1:30pm //  Multiple locations

A show full of magical wonder and excitement. The show will enchant the whole family as the toys come to life to amuse and delight all with their crazy illusions and skilled acrobatics. Entertain your KidsFest Little Red Riding Hood

19th July // 11:30 & 2pm //  Heaton Intermediate School

Who doesn’t love a good story…especially when it’s a fairytale classic? Don’t be fooled by the nursery rhyme Little Red Riding Hood. The piece, based on Roald Dahl’s ‘Revolting Rhymes’, is a fun piece with a twist at the end, and suitable for all ages! Resonance Ensemble, Christchurch’s newest and only chamber orchestra, performs an interactive family concert.

Families will have the opportunity to attend a workshop prior to the concert, making masks of the main characters, and learning more about the story in preparation for the concert. The masks will be incorporated into the performance, showcased by a parade. Come and meet the players at the end. Ticket Info: KidsFest.

Tothill’s Mazes Kidsfest

Tothill’s Mazes is proud to be a part of Kidsfest these July holidays! The Kidsfest Mascot, Coolstuff, has travelled around the world and ended up at Tothill’s Mazes but he has got lost in the Kiwiana themed wooden maze. Come and help find Coolstuff in our maze! We have special Kidsfest entry prices and kids get to take home a small treat from Tothill’s Mazes. Open 7 days a week during the school holidays 10am-5pm. Website: www.tothills.com

 

Night at the Museum!

15 & 17 July // 6-8pm // Canterbury Museum

See bedtime stories come to life in our very own night at the Museum!  Grab your flashlight and take an after-hours walk around the dimly lit galleries of Canterbury Museum. You never know what you’ll discover! Canterbury Museum is a mobility accessible location. Bring a torch and dress in costume if you fancy! Free event. Donations appreciated. The Emperor’s New Clothes

We all like to look good, however the Emperor likes to look great. But when he fires his tailor and has nothing to wear, he turns to two scoundrels to plan his new wardrobe.
