Entertain your KidsFest Little Red Riding Hood

19th July // 11:30 & 2pm //  Heaton Intermediate School

Who doesn’t love a good story…especially when it’s a fairytale classic? Don’t be fooled by the nursery rhyme Little Red Riding Hood. The piece, based on Roald Dahl’s ‘Revolting Rhymes’, is a fun piece with a twist at the end, and suitable for all ages! Resonance Ensemble, Christchurch’s newest and only chamber orchestra, performs an interactive family concert.

Families will have the opportunity to attend a workshop prior to the concert, making masks of the main characters, and learning more about the story in preparation for the concert. The masks will be incorporated into the performance, showcased by a parade. Come and meet the players at the end. Ticket Info: KidsFest.

The Pied Piper

The Big Chill @ Jellie Park

The Big Chill Youth Jam is back again and set to be another fun filled day out for all ages. Join the Cheapskates Skate Skool and Learn to Skate with free gear hire available on the day. Once you’ve mastered some tricks, bust them out for sweet prizes in the competition. Rock ‘n’ Roll Have a Go

Polish Folk Dance Workshop

27th July // 2 – 5pm //  Cashmere Club, 50 Colombo St

Come along and learn traditional Polish folk dances from the experts… To accompany their Australasia Tour, and the only Christchurch concert the previous day (see separate event listing), Poligrodzianie will hold a 3 hour workshop for those wishing to learn Polish folk dances. As one of the greatest Polish cultural heritage ambassadors, Poligrodzianie has visited 58 countries during its over a hundred foreign tours, performing in front of Pope Jean Paul II, Mayor of New York, Presidents and Ministers of many states. The Group has given concerts on the prestigious stages of Milan and Nashville, for the prisoners in the USA, in Disneyland and in the Tibetan prairie. This is a free event, but gold coin donations are greatly appreciated and will help support the work of Polish Association in Christchuch.
