The Christchurch Art Show

Winter Solstice Night Light Bike Ride 2014

21st June // Ride starts at 5:30pm //  Mickle gates, Hagley Park North

Celebrate the longest night of the year by cycling the 3rd annual night lights bike ride around North Hagley Park after sunset. This is a fun and slightly adventurous ride for all ages. We ride on the  path way, off the road, in the dark. Ride takes less than 30 minutes. Ride starts at 5:30pm at the Mickle gates, Bring your lights! Bring your bling. Grease – A Roller Derby Bout

Otautahi Roller Derby League Brings You Grease – A Roller Derby Bout Supporting Youthtown Come see the Pink Ladies take on the Tbirds in an action-packed, full-contact game of roller derby! This is a charity bout in support of Youthtown. Youthtown is a non-profit organisation set up to enrich the lives of young New Zealanders by providing them opportunities for fulfilling physical, social and creative experiences. Come dressed as yourself or as your favourite Grease character. Prize for the best dressed! Doors Open 6pm, First Whistle 7pm. Please no stilettos. Cust Village Winter Celebration

Science Alive

A variety of library locations & times

Science Alive presents a free after school science programme in ten libraries across Christchurch. Excellent Science Alive educators lead children through interactive activities to stimulate their interest in science, and there is something to take home every week! Body in Action

18th April – 27th July // Doors open at 9am // Canterbury Museum

Body in Action opens at Canterbury Museum on Friday 18 April and promises to put your body to the test. Do you know that in one day your heart will pump all your blood around your body about 1000 times, or that every 30 days your body produces a totally new outer layer of skin? Body in Action at Canterbury Museum will explore how the body works from head to toe. Designed for children of all ages, Body in Action offers an amazing journey of discovery through the human body. The exhibition is full of highly interactive activities and amazing information on how the human body works. For example, children can venture through the giant human mouth and giant nose, have fun in the lungs and intestines, test their aerobic capabilities, explore how the brain works and learn about bones, blood, how we hear, taste and see plus much, much more. Toured by Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History, Body in Action opens at Canterbury Museum on Friday 18 April, entry is free; donations are appreciated.
