Cinderella Meets Aladdin

Ferrymead Heritage Park Military Display

25th – 27th April // From 10:30am
Ferrymead Heritage Park

A full weekend of military display including uniforms, weapons, vehicles, and dioramas from WW1 to modern day. All of the displays are educational with many being interactive. Enter the Albert Hall Allied display through a section of reproduced WW1 trench. Experience what it was like to be in an Air Raid Shelter during the ‘Blitz’. Read personal stories from the wars and reflect on the sacrifices made. View the model and colouring competition entries and help choose one of the winner categories. Saturday and Sunday will see public free to view battle simulations. This is an event for the whole family young and old. This display will be one not to miss for 2014. Pricing: Normal Gate Charges. Little River Pumpkin Festival

Awa-iti Domain Little River

A wonderful celebration of all things Pumpkin. Giant, wide small and ugly compete for prizes while you enjoy pumpkin soup and pumkin pie. Quality craft stalls, great food and musical entertainment. Lincoln’s Grand Pumpkin Festival

Time again for Lincoln’s Grand Pumpkin Festival with competitions galore open to the whole family. Enter your prize winning pumpkin by 10.30 am in one of the following categories Biggest, Weirdest, Best Looking and Best Dressed Pumpkin ( Both Adult and Children’s Competition). Guest Judge – Gardening Expert Rachel Vogan will be announcing the winners at midday. There will be great live music from versatile local musician Willie McArthur throughout the morning with special children’s entertainment at 11.30 am. Body in Action (ongoing)

Canterbury Museum

Body in Action opens at Canterbury Museum on Friday 18 April and promises to put your body to the test. Do you know that in one day your heart will pump all your blood around your body about 1000 times, or that every 30 days your body produces a totally new outer layer of skin? Body in Action at Canterbury Museum will explore how the body works from head to toe. Designed for children of all ages, Body in Action offers an amazing journey of discovery through the human body. The exhibition is full of highly interactive activities and amazing information on how the human body works. For example, children can venture through the giant human mouth and giant nose, have fun in the lungs and intestines, test their aerobic capabilities, explore how the brain works and learn about bones, blood, how we hear, taste and see plus much, much more. Toured by Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History, Body in Action opens at Canterbury Museum on Friday 18 April, entry is free; donations are appreciated.
