Festival of Flowers

“Love Our Garden City” is the theme for our 25th Festival of Flowers, to be held in Cathedral Square in the beautiful Garden City of Christchurch. We are heralding the return to the inner city with this celebration of stunning floral installations, gardens and displays. The Festival launches on Saturday 8th Feb, 10am-2pm with a dynamic opening ceremony which will include live music and entertainment by artists from many cultures. This will a great day out for all. Christchurch Art Gallery’s latest exhibition explores the shape-shifting, experimental and seriously playful work of making art. Artists from near and far test the limits of their materials with morphing pencil sculptures, stretchy paint skins, gravity-defying stacks and videos of exploding paint-balloons. The exhibition is supported by a lively and engaging programme for both children and adults that includes floor talks, workshops and publications.

Barrington Big Fun!

Chinese Lantern Festival 2014

22nd – 23rd February // 5 – 10:30pm

Kites and butterflies, ancient drumming and heavy metal — Christchurch’s ninth Chinese Lantern Festival has something for everyone. Hundreds of vibrantly coloured lanterns will illuminate Carlton Corner in Hagley Park North for the festival over the weekend of Saturday 22 February and Sunday 23 February. Entry is free. Families and friends are invited to picnic on the grass, while enjoying local and international performers, cultural demonstrations and a fantastic array of food and drink. The Chinese Lantern Festival is organised by the Asia New Zealand Foundation with support from the Christchurch City Council.

 

Water Blast!

Streets Children’s Day 2014

The Streets Children’s Day Community event this year is being hosted at Ferrymead Heritage Park on the 2nd March 2014. The day is all about celebrating children and their many talents. Enjoy the free acitivites that event has to offer such as water walkers, bouncy castles and live performances. Gates will open at 9am and close at 4pm. This is a FREE event for the whole family!
