Summer of Fun – Central City

7 Decmeber // 4 – 7pm
Catherdral Square

A variety of activities from bouncy castles to archery, face painting to balloon animals. The Summer of Fun events will be happening across Greater Christchurch throughout the summer. They are funded by the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust (CEAT).


Carols in the Square 2013

7 Decmeber // 4pm
Catherdral Square

Carols in the Square is a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas! This year our event will be held in the heart of Christchurch city, Cathedral Square. A free community picnic and carol service to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Featuring live music, free bouncy castles, free face-painting and games for the kids, food vendors, craft stalls and more from 4-6pm. Followed by a sing-a-long Christmas carol service from 6pm. Pack a picnic, bring your deck chairs and singing voices! Gladly brought to you by Sunday at 7 – St John’s Latimer Square. In the unlikely event of rain, this event will be cancelled.


AFFIRM (Aranui Family Festival)

7 Decmeber // 10am
Wainoni Park, 31 Hampshire Street, Aranui, Christchurch

AFFIRM is a free community event for the Aranui community. It is a celebration of the community and its people. It is promoted as a family event with lots of activities for children. Activities include: Stalls (food, information stalls on health, employment and training and fund raising opportutnites for local groups). Stage (performances throughout the day on the stage such as cultural group performances, dance and bands). Children’s activities (running races, giant games, have a go sports, face painting, bouncy castle).


Kaiapoi Carnival & Santa Parade

7 Decmeber // 9am – 3pm
57 Charles Street, Kaiapoi

A free community day of fun and entertainment for the whole family. Market & Food stalls, clowns & entertainers, music, chocolate wheels, canterbury Axemen Assoc competition and amusement rides. Plus loads more. Come along and enjoy a great day out for all the family. The Kaiapoi Carnival is a true New Zealkand Small Town Carnival- get away from the crowds and enjoy the beautiful rivertown Kaiapoi, just 20 minutes North from Central Christchurch. Bambino Encraftment Market

7 Decmeber // 10am – 3pm
Rangi Ruru Girls’ School, Rossall Street Entrance

This boutique craft market will showcase over 40 stalls of gorgeous handmade items for babies and children. Clothing, accessories, dress ups, toys, sweet treats and more! Food and coffee available. There will be a great raffle up for grabs, bursting with amazing donations from our stall holders. Street parking. Cash sales only (some stalls will have eftpos). Santa Parade 2013

8 Decmeber // 2pm
Riccarton Road

A quarter of the region will line Riccarton Road, Christchurch on Sunday December 8 to watch the Santa Parade 2013 presented by the Christchurch Children’s Christmas Parade Trust. For 65 years the Christchurch Santa Parade has brought joy and excitement to the children and citizens of Canterbury and its environs. Celebrities, spectactular floats, fantasy, popular characters, clowns, animals, thrills, bands, dancing girls, music, music, music  and of course SANTA will feature in the Parade. Christmas in the Park – Parklands

Light It Up! Dance Show

Celebration Centre

Xpression Dance Studio presents LIGHT IT UP! Our End of Year Showcase 2013. All of our students and tutors will be taking the stage live to showcase a range of dynamic dance pieces! New Brighton Christmas Parade

New Brighton

The Annual New Brighton Christmas Parade is moving to the 2nd Saturday in December! Held in New Brighton since 2000 by the New Brighton Project, the Christmas Parade is a highlight of the events calendar in Eastern Christchurch! ARISE Christmas Production “Lights, Camera, Christmas”

Aurora Centre for the Performing Arts, Cnr Greers Rd and Memorial Ave, Burnside

This Christmas ARISE Church presents ‘Lights, Camera, Christmas’ – a spectacular theatrical production for all the family. Jake Lewis is an acclaimed film director who has somehow wound up working on a less-than-inspired movie staring Santa and a bunch of elves. Depressed and wanting to quit, Jake has to somehow find a way to turn this terrible movie into a masterpiece. With over 100 cast and crew of all ages, ‘Lights, Camera, Christmas’ will bring the joy, the fun and the true meaning of Christmas back into your festive season. ARISE Church
