Spring into Oxford

The day will include an extravaganza of vintage and classic cars, which will be displayed around the ‘Oval’ for everyone to enjoy. Pegasus Fun Run

Time to dust off your running shoes and start training for the spring event. With three different course distances including 2.5km, 5.5km & 10km there is a track to suit every age and fitness level. Lyttleton Harbour Kura – festival of learning

Project Lyttelton has dreamed up the Lyttelton Harbour Kura – festival of learning. For ten days, the Lyttelton Harbour will become a hot spot for the sharing of skills, ideas and knowledge. Come and take a workshop in Cheesemaking, Stiltwalking, Foraging or Jewellery making. It’s the first week of the school holidays, so there are lots of options for kids, either with or without parents, to attend classes and workshops.

The Make Cafe – School Holiday Workshops

Preschool sessions 9:30 – 12:00 every day during the school holidays at The Make Cafe. $5 for a 30 minute fun session! Booking essential!

Rock On – School Holiday Program

Canterbury Museum, Rolleston Ave

Come along to Canterbury Museum’s ‘Rock On’ holiday programme and explore the wonderful world of rocks. Classes for juniors (4 – 7 years old) are on 3rd and 4th of October and 10th and 11th of October, 10:00am -11:30am and 1:00pm – 2:30pm each day. Numbers are limited to 15 children per session and cost $5.50 per child.

In this senior-student hands-on workshop, we’ll look at the world of rocks and find out how they form through experiments, models and simulations. These classes are for seniors (8 – 13 years old) and run on 30th September and 1st October and the 7th and 8th of October. They are 1 Day workshops from 10:00am – 3:00pm. These are limited to 16 people per workshop so book early. $10.00 per person. Don’t forget to bring your lunch! The Body Festival 2013

The Body Festival is back for 2013! The Body Festival, Christchurch’s annual festival of dance and physical theatre, is a showcase and celebration of New Zealand’s dancing talent. Ranging from professional shows to amateur productions, the festival covers a variety of enjoyment for all audiences and participators. Focusing on the community aspect of dance, the Body Festival also incorporates a number of workshops and participation events. Find all the events on their website.

 

Baby & Child Show

The Baby & Child Show is coming to Christchurch in 2013! With all you need for your baby, toddler and pre-schooler, parents won’t want to miss this great show. More than 80 exhibitors; a huge play space with kindy gym for the kids; kids’ entertainment; extra wide aisles for easy buggy access; a quiet baby feeding room; nappy changing room; and a big food court so you can relax and take the weight of your feet! Take a Kid Fishing

13th October // Starts at 9am
The Groynes

A great, free, fun morning for children up to 12 years old.  The Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust has once more generously donated hundreds of young salmon which will be released into the lakes at the Groynes, along with a small number of very large trout. Bring your family and enjoy a fun kids’ fishing day. No registration or fishing licence necessary (Fish and Game provide a whole-of-site licence for the day). Adults may assist but are not permitted to fish. There will be caravans on site with food and drinks for sale.The morning session is set aside for children 12 years and under, with one lake especially for the under-8s where each child has a short one-on-one session with an expert angler (there is sometimes a queue for this). There will be loan rods and tackle in the morning, and worms and artificial bait too, so don’t worry if you don’t have gear. Contact Phone: 027 295 4299
