Christchurch Puppetry Festival

26 & 27 July // 10am-4pm

2 days of glorious puppetry. 6 different shows demonstrate different puppetry techniques: glove, shadow, black puppetry and toy manipulation. A free demo of making your own puppets from tea towels will be quirkily presented by artist Miyuki Takahagi each day at 1pm. Presenting: Peter Rabbit by Thumbs Up Puppets (fri, 10.45am;),  I’m Talking Rubbish! storyteller Liz Weir,( Sat 10.45am),  The Blue Shoe Show (both days, 2pm)a shadow show  by musical puppeteer, Rose Beauchamp. Cat vs Dog

Adapted from the book by E. B. White by Joseph Robinette. The traditional re-telling of the popular story. All the enchanting characters are here, Wilbur, the irresistible young pig, Fern, a girl who understands animal ‘speak’, Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed, the Zuckermans and Arables and most of all the extraordinary spider, Charlotte! Kaiapoi Street Party!

Kaiapoi Promotion Association are putting on a Street Party to celebrate the re opening of the William/Charles Street intersection. Along with the Kaiapoi Farmers Market, Saturday stall holders in the New World car park, there will be entertainment; stilt walkers; face painting, sausage sizzle; balloons; give aways and more! The Big Chill @ Jellie Park

The 1st ever ‘Big Chill’ at Jellie Park! Join the Skate Skool Team and learn to skate, free gear hire will be available as well as a best trick competition! There will also be a casual game of  touch rugby or you can join in on a game of basketball and win prizes in a shoot out comp!
