Lyttelton Port of Christchurch Fireworks & Street Party

Friday 28 June // from 5:30pm
Lyttelton Harbour Info Centre, 65 London St

Join us for Matariki and the midwinter solstice at the Lyttelton Harbour Festival of Lights! The night kicks off at 5:30pm with the Lyttelton Engineering Matariki parade and is punctuated by the spectacular Fireworks Extravaganza at 7:30pm. The night continues with music from local artists such as The Eastern and AhoriBuzz.

Parking is available at the gondola in Heathcote, with a special shuttle bus running over to Lyttelton every half hour in addition to the usual bus schedule. See website and facebook pages for the full programme.

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori – Māori Language Week celebrates te reo Māori. The Māori language is a taonga that gives New Zealand its distinct and unique cultural identity. Each year The Māori Language Commission sets a theme, and in 2013 it is “Ngā ingoa Māori, Māori names” – Maori names.

Papanui High School presents – The Boy Friend

Winter is upon us and it’s time to relax and enjoy some singing and dancing fun. To ease those winter blues Papanui High School has chosen The Boy Friend as its major production for 2013. Jointly directed by Jay Versteeg and Julia Boock with stunning choreography by Heather McLean this entertaining musical comedy, set on the French Riviera in the swinging twenties, tells a story of love both young and old. The season is short with only three performances and limited seating so get in quick to secure your seats for this winter treat. Family Movie Matinee

Drive-In-Movie Night

We’ve got a giant inflatable screen so it’s time for a Drive In Movie! We kick off at 6pm with the family friendly Ice Age 4 and then crank out Anchorman at 9pm.
