Today’s interview comes from Sophie. She is mum to Camilla. She knits, crochets, paints and does cross stitch. She writes regularly on her blog and runs the Sisterhood, an awesome group of women that are bringing love to women all over the world.

Thank you for taking time to answer these questions Sophie!

What is your favourite thing about living in Christchurch?

  • I love Christchurch! My passion for it begins on a crisp frosty morning when the sky is clear blue and the grass crunches beneath your shoes. I love the daffodils in Hagley Park, seeing the Southern Alps from the city and once upon a time, climbing Castle Rock and looking out over what felt like the entire world!

What activity or place would you recommend to other mums who live here in Christchurch?

  • My little girl is only one, but we love frequenting local parks and having picnics on the grass, one of our favourites is the Edmonds Gardens which is local to us, the flowers are always beauty and it feels so sheltered and private in there! We also LOVE Baby Story time at Upper Riccarton Library (On Tuesdays), Kirsty who takes it is an absolute star and the babes are transfixed on her for half an hour! Christchurch has a lot happening!

What has been your biggest challenge living in Christchurch post quakes?

  • Being pregnant throughout them and having my daughter born amongst them was a very scary time for me, I felt very anxious. For the most part things have been relatively smooth since then. Thankfully we have a great apartment to rent and a job for the husband to go to every morning. Life is pretty good here!

Where do you see beauty in your life right now – as a mum, in your career, in relationships, in your home, in our city – that you would like to share?

  • I have found that living in Christchurch causes me to find beauty in the smallest things. I must celebrate them and continue to live a joyful life! Beauty is everywhere when it is noticed. In the smile from my daughter or a neighbour, a generous friend, a husband who goes to work early in the morning with joy, a wine in the evening with my plunket group. I have a lot to be thankful for!
